Buzzbaits, and How to Use it the Best Way

without comments

Every single bass fisherman out there needs to have a buzzbait in his tackle box. It is essential. When anglers don’t catch enough bass on this lure, they will usually forget about it, and push it to the back of the tackle box. The buzzbait may not be my favorite type of lure, but you well know that fisherman have caught some very nice bass on it.

Do you have any idea why that might be? It seems to be a bulky bait, with a lot of flash, and perhaps too much for a bass to take. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you really do it right, and follow these tips, include how to cast and retrieve it properly, your buzz bait will catch you fish. This is what you need to do.

Grab your buzzbait and flick out there as close as you can to good bass cover. Make sure not to place your bait right in the cover, just very, very close to it. If you do this right, it will make sure that your bait is near to the fish, but you’ll also avoid snaring on a twig or grass, thus messing up your lure action. While the bait is in the air, watch it closely. When it gets close to hitting the water, stop the bail of your reel. This will force the line to tighten up, and the buzzbait will hit the water in the proper position, and will already have momentum going back towards you. Now you can go ahead and start reeling in. Keep the buzzbait on top of the water, and steer it as close as possible to the submerged cover, without hitting it. If there is a bass in the area, it will be hard pressed to resist your lure using this method.
